Week 29

Day 1
Objective: TLW review geometry terms and explore the art of Wassily Kadinsky. TLW use knowledge of line, line segment, acute angle, obtuse angle right angle, intersecting lines, parallel lines, perpendicular lines, and 2 dimensional shapes (triangle, quadrilateral...) to create a design which incorporates at least 5 of the above shapes using the paintings of Kandinsky as a guide.

Day 2
Objective: TLW investigate tangrams and learn that tangrams were used by the Chinese people to illustrate characters of stories that were told. TLW review the terms: slide, flip , turn (slide, rotation, translation). TLW use tangram shapes to create a design and write a story about the shape.

Day 3:
Objective: TLW review and practice symmetry by creating mandalas.

1.TTW Discuss mandalas.

2. TLW trace a circle on the left side of a sheet of construction paper using a circle template. Choose tangram shapes to fill the circle in a symmetric pattern inside the circle. Next to the picture write the names of the shapes used. Color the shapes using some type of color pattern that will add to the symmetry of the design.
